SHOUT! Social Networking App. Gets uploaded to Apple. We’re very excited and here is why.

SHOUT! for Facebook is coming to iPhone and Android soon.
I wish to tell you about what GZero team has been upto for the last few months. It’s been a while since we blogged and something interesting happened.

    Let me tell you:

Whilst we were working on the next great feature for VoCal we stumbled upon something that we believe has not been done before. The iPhone 4.1 software unlocked a potential that allowed us to produce a new method for getting your Voice up on facebook direclty without the need for third party servers.

So whilst we set out to bring social interaction to VoCal we kinda accidentally made a new app. The concept of SHOUT! was born.

SHOUT! brings two new features that should help cure boredom or the facebook blues.
The first is the ability to express yourself to your friends in a brand new way using your voice recording (instead of text) posted up directly to your wall for all your friends to see (hear!). This way, your emotion is carried better than text for a more expressive post. You can talk, joke, sing, scream, rap, you get the idea. The same way people interact in real life with their voice, they can now do over facebook.
After playing about with SHOUT! in the office and making some hilarious Facebook posts we decided that we wanted a really good interface to present this app.

We were bored with the static interfaces that apps tend to use so we decided to go for something fresh and fun. This is where we came up with a cool new idea for the interface. Our coder came up with a new method to present the app icons and we went from there. The result? A set of brightly coloured icons that just won’t stand still, they look alive. These icons can be placed wherever the user likes on screen and they can be flicked around and bounced off each other for a bit of fun. Version 1 of SHOUT! shows off our basic interface with more to come.

The practical side to this interface will become apparent as we start to add more and more features or icons. Users will be able to fully customise the app to help them speedily use it for their social actions.

As always with GZero the app will be fast and simple to use with no clutter. The idea is that when you want to quickly get a message up on facebook, you can with just two taps and you don’t even have to wait for the upload to finish before closing the app.

The app is currently in review with Apple and should hopefully release within the next week or so. Just so that Facebook users on android do not feel left out, we have already started work on the port of version 1.0 to follow in a few weeks time.

We hope that people from all walks enjoy leaving a variety of voice recordings to their facebook friends.

Here is a copy of the app store description for a sneak preview of what to expect:

Your social network page just got pimped!

  1. [...] SHOUT! was initially developed as a new feature for VoCal as an attempt to make the app more social. Once the team saw how good and fun it was. We decided to release it as a stand alone app at the lowest price tier available in the app store. We felt that SHOUT! was too good to just be an extra feature of VoCal so we made a separate and more fun app. [...]

  2. Hi guys – really like the idea,
Just gotta wait for the Android version.

I’d like to be able to Shout directly to people’s walls too.
